TribeTime – Privacy Policy & Legal Notice
Oct 2, 2026
1. Overview
TribeTime stores your data only on your device. We do not run our own server, and we cannot see who is in your tribe, what you do together or what you write down.
This privacy policy applies to the TribeTime app for Android, worldwide. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Section 11 covers additional information for users in the United States.
Personal data is processed outside your device in only two cases: when you subscribe to TribeTime Plus (section 4) and when you use Android's device backup (section 6).
2. Who is responsible
The controller responsible for processing your data is:
Georg Dilk
Bürglenstrasse 67
3006 Bern, Switzerland
Email: stedwisehq@gmail.com
If you have questions about privacy or want to exercise your rights, please write to this email address.
3. Data that stays on your device
Everything you enter in TribeTime is stored locally in the app's protected storage on your device. We have no access to it, and the app does not transmit it.
This includes the members of your tribe, your goals and activities, planned meetups, notes, reminders and your settings.
Legal basis: Storing this data is necessary for the app to work (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
4. Purchases and TribeTime Plus
If you subscribe to TribeTime Plus, payment and subscription management are handled by Google Play. We also use the service RevenueCat to verify your subscription. Even without a purchase, the app asks RevenueCat for your subscription status and current prices; only the technical data listed below is transmitted.
Google Play: Payment, payment details and cancellation are handled entirely through your Google account. We never receive payment details such as credit card numbers. Google's Privacy Policy applies.
RevenueCat: RevenueCat, Inc. (USA) checks whether your subscription is valid and unlocks Plus in the app. It processes:
- a random, anonymous user ID that cannot be linked to your name or email
- your purchase history in TribeTime (product, purchase date, subscription status)
- language and currency settings, and technically necessary connection data such as your IP address
RevenueCat does not receive payment details, your location or any content from your tribe. It acts as our processor and does not use the data for advertising. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Legal basis: Performance of the subscription contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in preventing misuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
5. Permissions and notifications
TribeTime needs only a few permissions and does not access your contacts, location, camera, microphone or photos.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Internet | Subscription check via Google Play and RevenueCat |
| Notifications | Reminders about meetups and goals |
| Google Play Billing | Purchasing and managing TribeTime Plus |
Reminders are scheduled and triggered directly on your device; no server is involved. You can turn notifications off at any time in your Android settings.
If you export a meetup to your calendar, the app creates a calendar file and hands it to the app you choose. What happens to the file afterwards is governed by that app.
6. Device backup
If you have enabled Android backup on your device, Android may back up TribeTime's data in encrypted form to your Google account. This keeps your data when you switch devices.
This backup is a feature of Android and Google, not of TribeTime, and we have no access to it. You can turn it on or off in your Android settings under "Backup".
7. No ads, no tracking, no analytics
TribeTime currently shows no ads and uses no analytics or tracking services. We do not build user profiles, do not sell or share personal data, and do not use the advertising ID.
If this changes, we will update this policy beforehand and ask for your consent where required.
8. International data transfers
RevenueCat and Google also process data in the United States. RevenueCat and its subprocessors (for example Amazon Web Services) store the data there.
These transfers are protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, which RevenueCat applies in its Data Processing Addendum, including for transfers from Switzerland. Google's transfers are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
9. Retention and deletion
You decide how long your data is kept. You can delete individual entries, notes or tribe members directly in the app.
If you uninstall TribeTime or clear the app data in your Android settings, all locally stored data is removed. You manage any backup in your Google account (section 6) in your Google settings.
Purchase data at RevenueCat is kept as long as needed to manage your subscription and to meet legal retention obligations. We will arrange its deletion on request (section 10).
10. Your rights
You can request access to your data at any time, as well as its correction, deletion or a copy of it. Where the GDPR applies, you also have the right to restrict processing and to object.
To do so, write to the email address in section 2. Because we do not know you by name, please include your Google Play order number (it starts with "GPA.") for requests about a purchase.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority: in Switzerland with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU with the supervisory authority of your country of residence.
11. Users in the United States
This section provides the additional disclosures required by the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA) and applies to all users in the United States.
- Categories of personal information: only the purchase-related data described in section 4 (anonymous user ID, purchase history, connection data such as IP address).
- Third parties: Google (payment) and RevenueCat (subscription verification). We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
- Do Not Track: TribeTime does not track you across apps or websites, so Do Not Track signals do not change how the app works.
- Your choices: You can request access to or deletion of your purchase data using the contact details in section 2.
12. Children
TribeTime is intended for people aged 16 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when TribeTime changes, for example if we introduce online features, user accounts or advertising. The current version is always available at [https://tribetime.app/privacy\]. We will inform you about significant changes in the app.
